Last Saturday, the atmosphere at the Golden Peak Hotel was filled with hope and dedication as members of the media, local government units (LGU) officials, academicians, and representatives from various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) gathered to commemorate Children of Asia's 25th Anniversary.
This French non-governmental humanitarian organization has been tirelessly working to support disadvantaged children across South East Asia, making a remarkable impact on the lives of over 10,500 children in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
In Cebu City, Children of Asia has been actively involved in various programs in Barangay Carreta, Ermita, Mabolo, Pasil, and Barrio Luz. Moreover, in Cebu Province, their programs extend to Medellin and Daan Bantayan in the North and Alegria and Minglanilla in the South. These programs aim to provide educational support, career guidance, and professional integration opportunities to the underprivileged children in these areas. Children of Asia works closely with local government units to make these programs impactful and sustainable.
Children of Asia has undertaken several remarkable projects that have made a significant difference in the lives of the children they serve. Three notable projects are:
1. Project YUNIT (Youth United Networks in Information Technology): This project focuses on equipping young individuals with skills in information technology, opening up opportunities for them to pursue careers in this ever-evolving field. By providing access to technology and training, Children of Asia empowers these children to create better futures for themselves.
2. The DICE Project (DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, & CHILDREN EMPOWERMENT): This initiative emphasizes diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, receives support and encouragement to thrive. The project also focuses on empowering children to express themselves and become active participants in their communities.
3. Keep Me Safe Project: This project plays a crucial role in creating awareness about child protection. It addresses issues like child violence, sexual harassment, bullying, cyberbullying, physical harm, and psychological harm. Through education and advocacy, Children of Asia is working to make the world a safer place for children.
During the press conference, Children of Asia's Country Director, Ms. Barbie Romeo-Guardiario, along with dedicated staff and executives, presented the organization's various achievements and ongoing projects. They also unveiled an upcoming event that promises to be both powerful and transformative. "Breaking Chains" is a special musical presentation scheduled for November 25th and 26th. This event aims to raise awareness about the critical issue of child trafficking, shedding light on the plight of vulnerable children and inspiring action to break the chains that bind them.
If you're inspired by Children of Asia's mission and would like to support their cause, you can reach out to them via their Facebook Page: Children of Asia Philippines. Your involvement, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, can make a significant impact in the lives of disadvantaged children and contribute to a brighter future for them.
