Earlier I got invited to watch the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem at SM Seaside City Cebu (Official)
The atmosphere was exciting, everyone was looking forward to this reboot. SM Cinema had cosplayers dressed up as the Ninja Turtles and boy were they cute.
Drinks were served at the foyer and a DJ played beats for movie goers. Everyone enjoyed taking photos at the photo wall, selfies with the Ninja Turtles and a photo wall that you can write on.
TMNT bandanas were also given out. I had a hard time wearing them though because I have a big head, hahaha, and it was made of cardboard so I had to improvise.
I was expecting the cosplayers to be a lot bigger and taller but after watching the movie, I understood that this reboot focused on the TMNT being teens in New York City.
A few years back I would have cringed on a movie like this, because It's not cartoons, it's not CGI either, it's somewhere in between and very retro pop culture. The choice of music and feel for the whole movie is somewhat ghetto but not in a negative way.
This was a movie fit for the whole family with it's own twists and storyline that moved in a different direction compared to the original 90's cartoons we all grew up watching.
If you love Seth Rogan, you can easily pick up parts of the movie that is influenced by his humor and who doesn't recognize Jackie Chan's voice?
The movie is oozing with influence from Nickelodeon. (Did you see what I just did there?) Hahaha.
From Humor, to Action, to Storyline, I would give it an 8 out of 10, and only because I grew up watching TMNT, I love how retro and pop culture this movie has become and I totally relate to growing up being a wallflower as a kid, much like how the TMNT had to avoid humans because of what humans do to things they don't understand.
Movie goers enjoyed treats from SM Cinema's Snack Time. After all, what's a movie without popcorn, a hotdog sandwich and a nice cold drink. THANK YOU SO MUCH SM CINEMA and thank you sir RJ.
This was an exclusive screening for SM Cinema Patrons, Members of the media, Vloggers and Bloggers, but don't worry because regular showing begins TODAY!
I had so much fun watching this movie with friends from SUGDI, members of the Cebu Online News Press Corps, and Bisaya Youtubers Club.
Now to answer the question, Is it worth watching? YES!
Check out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem at the SM Cinema nearest you. You are going to love it.
